Transfer and Placement Prototype

Each year, tens of thousands of unaccompanied children seek refugee in the United States. Upon arrival, they are placed in the temporary care and custody of government shelters until they can be safely released or reunified with guardian sponsors.

To receive appropriate care, children regularly transfer between shelters in a complex process governed by many regulations. By carefully redesigning technology and policy, these transfers can be more safe, transparent, efficient, and compliant.

Illustration of Liane's Boston Chatbot Project

Residents of Boston can text ‘FOOD", "COMIDA", "食物", or keywords in five other languages to 617-579-8238 to explore public benefits or find where to get free or low-cost food for pickup or delivery.

The chatbot can serve more people because it is easy to use, low cost, available anytime, and doesn't require an Internet connection. In doing so, it also increases the Office of Food Access's outreach and staff capacity.

TableTote Cover Page

The Tabletote is an innovative picnic basket that easily converts to a tabletop. Use it as a cheeseboard in the park, a sand-free snack surface at the beach, or a crafting caddy and workspace at home.

With an original design that is both fun and functional, these totes come in two colorways and were entirely prototyped, produced, and marketed by a team of 4 in a limited run, then later manufactured locallly.
